• Equipaje de mano 10 kg. Un solo bulto + abrigo o chaqueta . Equipaje que se factura→ 15 kg. Cada kg. Extra se paga a 8 euros (febrero 2008)
• Documentos: DNI y pasaporte en regla (los lleva el alumno) y autorización de menores (cada alumno se la entrega, como más tardar el 5 de mayo de 2011, al profesor organizador).
• Student Agreement. Igualmente, cada uno se lo entrega al profesor organizador, lo antes posible. Firmado por padre/madre y por el alumno/a en inglés y español.
• Tarjeta sanitaria europea expedida por la SS a personas que viajan al extranjero.
• La lista de las familias de acogida que se mandarán por e-mail puede sufrir alguna modificación.
• Enfermedades: Se le debe comunicar a la profesora organizadora si algún alumno tiene algún problema médico. Los que hayan de llevar medicación en el equipaje de mano, deben solicitar un certificado a su especialista. El alumno es el responsable de este certificado, que debe conservar en su poder en todo momento.
• Enchufes: (Clavija) Los enchufes y clavijas inglesas son diferentes a las españolas. Sin intención de hacer ningún tipo de publicidad, he oído que en los supermercados ALDI, venden los adaptadores para el Reino Unido, a un bajo precio.
• Teléfono (roaming): aunque llevaremos un teléfono para emergencias, si los padres lo desean, pueden preparar los teléfonos móviles de sus hijos con el “roaming”. También se podrá llamar a los teléfonos fijos de las casas inglesas donde se alojen los estudiantes.
• Regalo familias: Algunos padres me han preguntado si es necesario llevarle un regalo a las familias inglesas. He podido averiguar que aunque, por supuesto, no es obligatorio, hay algunos estudiantes que le han llevado cualquier detallito a la familia inglesa, alguna cosita típica de aquí, un bote de aceitunas, una botellita de aceite, o lo que vosotros creáis convenientes. No es obligatorio, pero sí que queda uno muy bien.
• Dinero: Se aconseja que se lleven cambiados unos 200 Euros en £ibras. Si luego algún alumno necesita cambiar algo más, Paulo dijo que él podía cambiarlo en Correos sin comisión.

Peterborough en Google

Os dejo aquí información que he encontrado en google sobre nuestro destino. Espero que os sirva y os quite esas ansias de llegar dejando llevar la imaginación.
El legado histórico y cultural del Peterborough se remonta a hace más de 3.000 años. Pero esta ciudad es mucho más que historia: también te permitirá disfrutar de magníficas compras y actividades culturales y de ocio que sin duda superarán todas tus expectativas.
La catedral normanda es magnífica, la fachada es tan espectacular como los frescos de la bóveda central. Está situada en un lugar alejado del mundanal ruido, pero tan sólo a unos pocos metros de toda la animación que Peterborough puede ofrecer.
Como visitante, podrás aprovechar todas las actividades al aire libre que se pueden realizar rodeado por un paisaje de cuento de hadas, como por ejemplo en los más de 2000 acres de bosque junto al río. FLAG FEN BRONZE AGE CENTRE
Flag Fen is one of the finest Bronze Age archaeological sites in Europe with the oldest wheel in England and an ancient wooden trackway stretching across the Fens. Finds associated with this include an amazing collection of Bronze Age swords possibly placed as offerings in the water. With over 20 acres of parkland and historic reconstructions you can discover how people lived 4000 years ago. Take a walk on the wild side around the mere and fields, marvel at the ancient tools, jewellery and woodwork. Special events run monthly throughout the summer from pond dipping and artefact handling to re-enactments and experimental archaeology. Learn a new skill at a weekend workshop from willow sculpture to sword finishing, flint knapping to basketry. Workshop places are limited and must be booked in advance. Hands on activities for all the family are run on select days in the school holidays. Ample free parking, refreshments and shop available for visitors. Pre-booked groups and school groups can visit all year round and are eligible for discounted fees. Guided tours are available subject to volunteer availability.
CATHEDRAL
An undiscovered gem. Magnificent Norman Architecture; unique 13th century nave ceiling, stunning West Front. Burial place of two Queens. Open daily; tours by appointment and visit the Cathedral souvenir kiosk and refreshment facility.
With one of the most dramatic West Fronts in the country, an extraordinary creation of medieval architecture, it would be easy for the interior to be an anticlimax, but it is not. The dramatic Romanesque interior is little altered since its completion 800 years ago and the whole building has recently undergone cleaning and restoration following the dramatic fire of November 2001.
With over 1350 years of Christian worship on the site this is a treasure-house of religious and historic artefacts. Highlights of any visit include Saxon carvings from the earlier buildings on this site, the unique painted nave ceiling, amazing fan vaulting in the 'new' building, elaborately carved Victorian Choir stalls and the burial place of two queens, Katharine of Aragon and Mary Queen of Scots. There is an excellent exhibition in the North Nave Aisle, telling of the history of the Abbey and Cathedral with details of its building and its functioning as a major medieval abbey. The abbey was closed in 1539 on the orders of Henry VIII, but instead of being demolished, as so many monasteries were, it was re-launched as the Cathedral of a brand new diocese in 1541 and is still the seat of the Bishop of Peterborough and mother church for the diocese which covers Northamptonshire, Rutland and much of Peterborough.
There is a cathedral souvenir kiosk located inside the building and visitors can enjoy delicious light refreshment at 'Cathedral Coffee and Cookies' open Monday-Saturday, 10-3pm.

You must advise the host family of any plans you may have. You are a guest in their house and you must respect this at all times.

If the host family requires you to be home earlier you must agree to this.
If a student’s behaviour is unacceptable World School reserves the right to suspend the student from the course after 2 warnings.
In serious breaches of acceptable conduct, the student may be returned home.
There is no eating or drinking allowed in the classroom. This includes chewing gum.
Mobile phones are to be completely switched off in class.
The teacher has the right to confiscate any item which is banned in the classroom.
The teacher has the right to refuse entry to any student late for class.
World School will not wait for students who are late for organised activities and trips.
Any breakages will be paid for by the responsible student’s or their parents.
You will respect all the staff and other students at World School.
You will be quiet when walking around the school so as not to disturb other lessons.
Each family has their own house rules, they don’t have to tolerate and accept everything the students do, is very important that all the students and participants of our program the Study Holidays understand that staying in a Host family isn’t stay in a hotel, they are not servants and the students and participants must respect at all times their culture, house rules and way of life, that is why they came to England to find out how English people live and their culture.

Plan de actividades global
Estimados padres y alumn@s:
Os presento a continuación un resumen de las actividades que haremos durante nuestra visita a Peterborough según la narración que me ha realizado mi padre de su viaje el año pasado:
Durante la primera tarde, hicieron una visita a Peterborough y a Stamford, un pequeño pueblo cerca nuestra, durante la segunda tarde. Llevaron a cabo una excursión de día completo en el tercer día a la ciudad de Cambridge donde se montaron en unas barcas aparte de las visitas turísticas típicas. Hay un día que es el Family Day donde las familias de l@s niñ@s proponen actividades. En caso contrario, Mercedes y yo preparariamos algún evento para aquellos que no tengan actividades con la familia. London Day es el día que vamos a Londres. El día 6 fueron al museo, a la bolera y a una pizzeria que les pago el colegio.

En cuanto a los gastos, como he dicho, serán pocos y sólo en el caso de compras y regalos. En cuanto a una estimación del presupuesto, creo que puede estar entre los 150 y 300 dependiendo del objetivo consumista que se pretenda.
Propongo una reunión mañana o el martes para tratar estos temas y otros que surgan.
